This 'load temperature' is more important than idle temperatures (assuming idle temps are fine), so you'll want to periodically monitor your CPU temperature under load to ensure it's adequately cooled. Under higher load, such as when playing a game, rendering a video, or other intensive tasks, your CPU consumes more power and, thus, runs at a higher temperature. When the CPU is idle, a good temperature is anything under or around 50C. Again, only use this as an indication of idle CPU temperatures - you should also check from within Windows 10 or Windows 11 to get a better idea of CPU temperatures when you're using the PC (see below). Once you're in the BIOS, you will see the temperature listed in the Hardware Monitor section, which can also be named PC Health Status or Status, among other similar names. Not all motherboards list the CPU temperature in the BIOS, but nearly all enthusiast or DIY motherboards do. On most platforms, you simply reboot the system and click delete or F2 repeatedly as it restarts. It's pretty simple to enter the BIOS to check your CPU temperature. That means you will see much higher temps when you are booted into Windows 10 or another operating system. You can check your CPU temperature in the system BIOS or UEFI, but be aware that this will only show your CPU temperature at idle. How to Check Your CPU Temperature in the BIOS Anything between 80C and 95C has room for improvement. You should be concerned if this figure is at or beyond 95C. The best way to monitor your temperature while gaming is to game for a while and then check back in with the program to see the maximum recorded temperature. Just be aware that this program puts an extremely heavy load on your PC. However, if you want to measure the maximum possible temperature, you can check by running a Prime95 stress test for about 30 minutes ( download here) in Windows 10 or Windows 11. If you want to check your PC's CPU temperature during normal use, you can leave Core Temp running while you perform common tasks. So, for example, the CPU in the above image has had a minimum temperature of 32C and a maximum of 51C and is, therefore, running at a normal temperature. But we're more interested in the Min and Max columns, which show the absolute minimum and the absolute peak temperature recorded while the program runs. The left-hand side of the measurements shows the real-time temperature of each CPU core, and you can also see the measurements in the taskbar. ![]() Just be sure to untick the freeware option during installation.Ĭore Temp provides temperature measurements for every core in your CPU. This is a simpler tool that works with a more basic UI. You can also use the Core Temp tool, one of the best CPU temperature tools for Windows 11 and Windows 10, to monitor the temperatures ( download here). While CAM is intended to be used with NZXT's products, it works really well as a casual monitoring tool in Windows 10 or Windows 11, even if you don't have any NZXT hardware. You can use the software in Guest Mode to avoid creating a user account, and you can also disable the program from starting automatically with Windows if you don't plan on using it often. These are just a few examples of many, but we'll show you how NZXT's CAM and Core Temp work because we have found that these two are the easiest to install and use. CAM is developed by PC case, power supply, and CPU cooler manufacturer NZXT. ![]() For more advanced users, or if you're overclocking your CPU and want more in-depth measurements, Intel's eXtreme Tuning Utility (XTU) and AMD's Ryzen Master software are designed by the chipmakers and also offer expansive options. And he considers how Shakespeare himself, before his death, may have influenced the ways in which his own public identity would come to be enshrined in the First Folio, shaping the transmission of his legacy to future generations and determining how the world would remember him ‘not of an age, but for all time’. Shakespeare scholar Dr Chris Laoutaris uncovers the friendships, bonds, social ties and professional networks that facilitated the production of Shakespeare ’ s book, as well as the personal challenges, tragedies and dangers that threatened its completion. A rare early volume of Shakespeares plays is to go on show at the University of Glasgow. Shakespeare’s Book: The Intertwined Lives Behind the First Folio charts, for the first time, the manufacture of the First Folio against a turbulent backdrop of seismic political events and international tensions that intersected with the lives of its creators. The rare book is one of only 50 that remain in the UK. It is difficult to imagine a world without The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Antony and Cleopatra, The Winter’s Tale and Macbeth, but these are just some of the plays that were only preserved thanks to the astounding labour of love that went into creating the first collection. The year 2023 marks the 400th anniversary of Mr William Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories, & Tragedies, known today simply as the First Folio. The First Folio was published in 1623, 8 years after Shakespeares death. What is unique about this particular iteration, according to Oxford Professor Emma Smith, is that the First Folio has usually only been seen as one large volume. The director of the Mount Stuart House Trust, Adam Ellis-Jones, described the revelation as "genuinely astonishing." "In terms of literary discoveries, they do not come much bigger than a new First Folio, and we are really excited that this has happened on Bute," said Alice Martin, head of collections at the house. Since most people have a job to do and tend to copy-paste some example code quickly, I wanted them to use the safest method of parsing YAML with Python. I intentionally didn’t tell you about the load() function until now. You will encounter many examples of PyYAML usage where load() is used instead of safe_load(). How to convert JSON to YAML with Python PyYAML safe_load() vs load() Here’s the same example, but interactive, so you can experiment with this for yourself: This means all the regular dictionary features can be used, like using get() with a default value. ![]() The YAML parser returns a regular Python object that best fits the data. ![]() Please note that I changed the output a little to make it more readable for you: > import yaml Next, we parse it with the yaml.safe_load() function. However, PyYAML is the most prevalent and complete implementation for parsing YAML. Multiple Python packages can parse YAML data. If you’re looking for a suitable data format for data exchange and storage, I recommend JSON, XML, or other more efficient formats like protocol buffers and Avro. It’s perhaps too versatile for simple use cases, like data exchange of simple objects. Its dependence on indentation is frustrating sometimes (however, Python developers are used to that, right?).YAML is not part of the standard Python library, while XML and JSON are. There are some downsides to using YAML with Python, too: ini files, but is still nice on the eyes and simple to write and parse. It has a richer syntax than the often used alternative. Others seem to agree, as many large projects, like Docker and Kubernetes, use YAML to define deployments. That’s exactly how I, and many other developers, use it the most. If you ask me, YAML is perfect for configuration files. A feature often used in Kubernetes definitions.ġ) Fun fact: the official YAML website is written as valid YAML files. The best features about this item are that you don’t have to work that big spring, and the tip will release under pressure - it’ll come right off.Īdded to the Lube-Shuttle, the two products work together to really take the mess out of greasing. I usually have to push and twirl just a little bit to get the lock, but once on, it won’t come off or let grease go everywhere. To get it to fully seat, you just push the tip from its base and the lever comes up. You feel it seat on there, but it’s not locked yet. To use this one, you push the lever in to get it on the grease zerk. But the effort on this product is not in getting the big spring released. It goes on the grease gun just like the standard tips do. The safeLOCK works a little bit differently. But The safeLOCK is Faster and Easier to Attach That’s the one most of you are used to, and that’s how it works. Now it’s locked on, won’t come off, and you won’t have grease coming out everywhere. The lever pulls the jaws out, and then to put it on the grease zerk you work the lever again, then release. You have to push a lever that releases the heavy spring to expose the jaws. Once the standard tip is screwed onto the grease gun, you need to get it on the grease zerk. It goes on and fits perfectly, but is designed differently than the standard tips. The Lube-Shuttle tip, called the safeLOCK, does the exact same thing. In my experience using the combination, I’ve had no leaks. But even though the standard tips have NPT or national pipe threads, they go right on the Lube-Shuttle. The Lube-Shuttle and its accessories have metric threads. Now, the tips you are accustomed to using have slightly different threads than the safeLOCK tips.
